Susan Baker
In 1968 Susan was just 16 and still at school. she worked at two newspaper rounds to be able to afford the magazines, records and memorabilia that chronicled the lives of her idols - The Beatles.
'Because I delivered newspapers to pay for my trips to see them I would read the news and anything that mentioned the Beatles.
She said: 'I was a real Beatlemaniac and I remember reading in the Beatles Monthly magazine that Paul had moved into a new house.
'It gave a description so I went with a friend to try and find it. It had electric gates and an old lamppost in the front garden.
'We looked everywhere and eventually someone showed us where it was for half a crown.
'From then on we went every weekend and Paul would always come out and sign things for us.
He eventually asked her if she ever visited the other three, and, when she said no, he gave her their addresses which she wrote on the back of an envelope.
She spent the next two years visiting each Beatle – and told how they were always happy to open the door to them.
However, if they were out recording, or on tour, Sue would have a chat with their wives and bring them chocolates.
'I put all the cuttings and the photographs in a box and it has been in the attic for years. I have been thinking about selling them for some time.
'I kept up the visiting for about two years between 1966 and 1968.
Every weekend she would set off on her lengthy journies by train and bus to visit the homes of the four fabs. Sometimes she would take her little brother Phillip and sometimes she would meet up with another fan that she had gotten to know.
She told us how all the Beatles were unfailingly polite and they would ask her how she was doing in her exams and how the journey was and they remembered her by name. John was her favourite but she loved them all.
Interestingly, she said George always answered the front door himself and seemed to be alone. He was rather shy and reserved but was always nice. She had a photo taken of herself sitting on George's little psychedelic mini when he wasn't home one day... and then she took a photo through a bedroom window.
When her family moved to the US that was it - by the time she returned the Beatles were no more but she would never forget those heady years when she was growing up and used to visit the four young men who shook the world.
Thanks Susan for sharing your story and your fabulous photos with us all.
